Las canciones constituyen un importante mecanismo para difundir diversas inquietudes de los seres humanos. A través de sus letras se difunden mensajes e ideologías, y su música se vincula con la cosmoaudición de las diversas sociedades. Por su posibilidad de llegar masivamente a vastos sectores poblacionales, la música popular (a la que pertenece el género canción) se convierte en eficiente herramienta en las lides políticas.
