 Andrés Ricardo Castro Hurtado estudió literatura en la Universidad del Valle, en donde colaboró en el periódico universitario La Palabra, escribiendo sobre temas de cultura y ciudad. Luego fue periodista del desaparecido portal de internet www.caliescali.com, donde realizó varios reportajes relacionados con la salsa, entre otros temas de cultura popular. Desde 2008 reside en la Ciudad de México, tiene un doctorado en teoría literaria y se desempeña como guionista.

El Ser y La Salsa

Antes de las historias de amor o desamor que comúnmente se cantan, la salsa se hizo con el dolor espiritual del desarraigo africano, el despojo indígena y el exilio europeo, llevando siempre la pregunta sobre para qué estamos aquí en el mundo. No es necesario que nos lo diga explícitamente, sólo basta con escuchar y poner mucha atención en los efectos melancólicos que provoca esta música, al mismo tiempo que nos invita a bailar.
